Have you ever dreamed of living in a permanent vacation home? With the onset of Spring
Break, better known to us here as Masters Week, you are likely planning a trip to relax and
recharge at a peaceful destination.
Today I'm here to tell you that you could enjoy the novelty of peace and serenity in your own
backyard everyday, by living at the lake!
We are blessed to be surrounded by great lake life options. Lakeside living has jumped in
popularity as life becomes more stressful and people choose to work remotely. One of the most
enticing aspects of lakeside living near Augusta is its convenience to some major metropolitan
areas. With easy access to shopping, dining, entertainment, and healthcare facilities, residents
can enjoy the best of both worlds – the peace and privacy of lakeside living combined with the
convenience of urban amenities.
In Augusta, we are located centrally between 3 popular lakes, giving us a unique opportunity to
do more than just spend a weekend at the lake. Here are some of the most pertinent details
related to each lake.
Lake Thurmond, also known as Clarks Hill Lake, has residential areas located as close as 28
miles from Downtown Augusta, Georgia. Known as the third largest man made lake east of the
Mississippi River, it offers the largest shoreline with home sites available on the Georgia and
South Carolina side. This is a man made lake maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. This
lake boasts nearly 71,100 acres of water, a shoreline of 1,200 miles and the entire area contains
about 151,000 acres of land and water. These expansive numbers offer exciting and affordable
lake properties near lake docks and often along private dockable property. Properties listed
today are priced as low as $100,000 and then surge to over 1.5 million.
Lake Oconee, the smallest on my list, is 85 miles from Downtown Augusta and 84 miles from
Atlanta, Georgia and boasts high end home options and condo or retirement communities. This
vibrant community is centered around a robust community offering a number of golf
communities, including Reynolds Lake Oconee, Cuscowilla, and Harbor Club. Lake Oconee
is home to the Georgia Power Company's Wallace Hydroelectric Plant and has 374 miles
formed along two smaller rivers. Condo living prices start around $95,000, and currently the
highest priced home along these pristine shores is listed for $7 million US dollars!!
Another popular choice is Lake Murray found in Lexington, South Carolina. This community
is only 67 miles from Downtown Augusta and just a quick 14 miles to Columbia, South
Carolina, making it the most desirable lake to live along of these three options. This lake is
formed along the Saluda river and encompasses approximately 50,000 acres. With roughly 650
miles of shoreline, homes here can be purchased for a more affordable price with a current
high of 3.5 Million and low at $75,000.
We’ve discovered that living at the lake is very attainable regardless of your budget or your
commute. Those who have chosen to make lakeside living their normal day to day life
experience an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities, improving their overall quality of
life. Waterfront real estate options, community amenities, and the proximity to city
conveniences, provide an unparalleled lifestyle that appeals to residents of all ages and
interests.
Today, having a little extra peace is worth the drive so consider choosing one of our
wonderful lakes for your next homesite and experience a truly exceptional lifestyle that's sure to
make waves in your heart.
